About Mr. Shiban
Mr. Shiban holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Indianapolis, where he also earned a scholarship to play running back for the Greyhound Football Team.  After graduation, he pursued a career as a computer programmer, which eventually brought him back home to Cleveland where he worked for Progressive Insurance for 10 years.  During those years, he met his wife, Keira, and her two wonderful children, Brian and Laurel.  Phil and Keira were married in 2004 and added two more children to their family (Calo and Sophia).  The family currently resides in Highland Heights, which is part of the Mayfield School District.
In 2010, Mr. Shiban realized his true calling and quit his job to return to school. He earned his Master's of Art in Teaching from Kent State University in May of 2012 and began his new career later that year at Ravenna High School. He taught there for one year, then decided to apply to schools a little bit closer to home.  When West Geauga High School called, he had a good feeling that he may have found his permanent school.  After all, he had been traveling to that school for the past 35 years to enjoy their infamous pancake breakfast!
He currently teaches Algebra 2, Algebra 2 Honors and A.P. Calculus AB.  He resides in room #131 and can often be found helping both current and former students in all levels of Mathematics. All are welcome to join!
