Overall, do you think College and Career Day was helpful to you?
Why or why not?
"Yes, because it definitely helped me focus in on what I want to do when I'm older and how I'm gonna get there."
"Yes, I got a better idea of what I want to and not want to study. I also got some colleges in mind. I have more of an idea of what is going to happen int eh next few years."
"Yes. It gave us opportunities that I usually wouldn't have."
"Yes, because it gave me an idea about what I want to be when I'm older and now I know more about college and how I can put myself out there and achieve the best of my ability. Also, it made me comfortable to not know what I want to do yet for sure, because a lot of others don't know also."
Welcome New Students!
When moving into the West Geauga School District, be sure to stop into the central office and pick up a registration packet. After completing the packet, providing the central office with 2 proofs of residency (usually gas and electric bills), the original birth certificate, and custody/divorce papers (if applicable), you may then meet with Mrs. Timmons, the school counselor, to create your child's schedule.

Once your child is scheduled, he/she will be given a tour of the building and will be paired with one of our Student Ambassadors on his/her first day of school. Always remember that we are all here to provide support in those first few days when the nerves are at their highest!
New Student Breakfast
Those students enrolling before the beginning of the school year will enjoy our New Student Breakfast during the second week of school. Here, the students will get to introduce themselves to other new classmates and hear what WGMS has to offer (while enjoying a tasty breakfast!) This year's New Student Breakfast will be held on Friday, August 26th during 2nd period!
Peer Tutoring Program
After the first grading period, the guidance department works with WGMS students to find Peer Tutors for the school year. Peer Tutors must meet high academic and behavioral standards. Once selected, Peer Tutors volunteer their time, at least one study hall per week, to help their fellow classmates with homework, study skills, and/or organization. Students who would like to be a Peer Tutor must submit an application to be a tutor, have 3 teacher recommendations, and have received a 3.0 or higher GPA for the 1st grading period.

Peer tutoring takes place in the guidance office and is overseen by the counselor. Parents requesting Peer Tutoring for their child should contact Mrs. Timmons. Students who require additional help may report to guidance during study hall times to get help from a tutor in the Learning Center.
