Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

“You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story.”
With that tagline, this movie seems like it would be an ironically cute, predictable comedy. Especially since it’s Jim Carrey’s new film ! He’s going to be a jilted lover who can’t get over his ex, right? Well...
yes ! But beyond that, the tagline and the hype surrounding the movie as “Jim Carrey’s newest film,” could not be more deceiving.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the newest film from wildly twisted writer Charlie Kaufman, whose bizarre movies have landed him as a sort of a Hollywood favorite. Even though he’s had only four other films, Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood and Kirsten Dunst all clamored to be in his latest effort. And understandably so, as this film has been raved about as possibly his best yet to date.
Truly, nothing quite like this movie has ever been done before. Unfortunately, a plot summary of this film would ruin the experience of seeing it. It’s so odd and unheard of that describing it wouldn’t make much sense anyway.
Even without the plot summary, realize that every aspect of this film is amazing and that more than anything else right now, it is a must-see.
