Waiting to Nuke the Pirates for CVC title
by Katie Brinager, Staff Writer
This year’s boys basketball teams are doing better than ever. Currently with a record of 13-2, the varsity team is in a race with Perry for the top team in the CVC. Waiting to play one of their biggest games three weeks ago against Perry, the weather affected that decision-making game. As it became a snow day, the game was also cancelled. This important game is rescheduled for the end of February.
The varsity team has accomplished some minor team goals; Rob Skuski, who stands at 6’8”, dunked against Aurora. “Our best win would have to be at Orange…right after we had lost to Perry,” commented senior Robbie LaTourette. Sophomore Jimmy DiFranco said his favorite win for the JV was, “…Aurora. We were down in the fourth and tied the game with two seconds left and we won in overtime.”
Jimmy noted the main difference in switching from the freshman level to the JV level was, “There are actually some fans at the games, (not many, but some).” Junior Nick Waetjen also commented on the team’s success: “Our chemistry is the key to success. So we know that our one team can beat any five individuals.” Robbie, Jimmy and Nick plan on having their teams end their respective seasons with winning records and winning Chagrin Valley Conference titles.
