End of the ride for McBride
by Rachel Gorjanc, Staff Writer
After thirty years of teaching, three of which were served at West Geauga High School, Mrs. Sharon McBride is ready to call it quits. Mrs. McBride will begin her much deserved retirement after the 2004 school year.
Mrs. McBride started her teaching career as a librarian with the Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools in grades K-6. From there, she became the media specialist at Painsville Harvey. Finally, Mrs. McBride landed at West Geauga, where she has worked ever since. She first started as the media specialist for the four elementary schools; however, when the elementary schools were condensed to Robert C. Lindsey and Westwood, she started teaching fourth grade at Lindsey.
Mrs. McBride's favorite part of her job has been working with the students, noting that she has had the especially unique opportunity to see how her fourth grade students have grown up and changed. Her least favorite part has always been paperwork and discipline.
In her spare time Mrs. McBride plans to go through rigorous training with her dog in order for him to become an assistant dog at a hospital. She will also be helping her husband one day per week in the Willoughby/Eastlake district, teaching computers to fourth graders.
