Drum Roll, Please...
by Katie Brinager, Staff Writer

After an intense night of rocking it out, the winner of the first-ever Battle of the Bands here at West Geauga was Forgiven. They were the fifth act of the night, playing two cover songs and two original songs. Forgiven has been together on and off for about four years. Band members include Joe Konieczny on lead vocals and guitar, Nick Vodicka on bass, Luke Wenger on guitar and Adam Vodicka on drums and vocals. “We went there for one reason and one reason only and I think everyone got the point,” said Joe.

Other bands on the set list for the night included Teach the Apprentice, The Mitties, The Plain Deal, Fool’s Paradise and This Fail Safe Lie. The winner was decided by the most applause earned, which was judged by teachers. Due to an equal amount of applause between Forgiven and This Fail Safe Lie, a tiebreaker was held and the winner was announced. Sam Ash generously donated a $100 gift certificate to the first place winners, a $50 gift certificate to the second place winners and $25 gift certificates to the remaining participants.

Thank you to everyone who attended the main event and to the class of 2005 for putting on such a great show. The junior class sold around 400 tickets on the way to raising close to $2,000. Plan on watching for another “battle” sometime in the spring.
