Hockey gets Underway
by Erik Beck, Staff Writer

The 2003-2004 hockey season is just around the corner and the boys (and girl) couldn’t be more excited. This year’s team consists of seniors Chris Boggs, Brett Kistler, Jordan Wright and Jen Morris; juniors James and Adam Hopkins, Mike Lepre and Dan Butters; sophomores Tommy Cambell, Justin Sipos, David Doles and Wayne Walters, and freshmen Brent Bolt, Cameron Wright, Lazlo Zala and Andrew Germ. The team is lead by head coach Mr. Ryan Fox and assistant coaches Mr. Jeff Meilander, Mr. Adam Ludwig and Mr. Scott Glavin.

Last season the Wolverines had a record of 8-13-2. This year their plan is to get a winning percentage over .500. The team practices daily at 5:30 a.m. at the Arctic Freeze Arena on East Washington St. in Bainbridge, Ohio.

The team is looking forward to the game with Chagrin Falls, the “Rumble at the Gundle,” at Gund Arena, which includes a West G. game versus Amherst Steel, followed by the “Holy War” with St. Ed and St. Ignatius and finally a Barons game.

As the team begins its fourth season, the athletes will be put through many tests. One of the biggest tests the Wolverines face this year is having to keep a strong and stable defense in order to protect freshman goalie, Lazlo Zala. The team is looking forward to a great season. Sophomore Tommy Cambell said, “I am excited about the upcoming season; we have a great team.”
