Sick of those Christmas movies youve seen a million times? Still longing
for something to get you into the Christmas feel? Then Elf is the movie for
you. Elf, starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, and Ed Asner, is about
a human adopted by Christmas Elves and then sent into the real world to find
Will Ferrell plays Buddy, the 6 foot, 30 year old man, who realizes that hes not really one of the four foot elves. Buddy just thought of himself as a special elf. When Buddy was a baby at the orphanage, he crawled into Santas gift bag one Christmas eve and thats how he came to live at the North Pole. While at the North Pole, he was raised as an elf, although he grew three times faster than a normal elf. Due to his size, chaos at Santas workshop ensues. Buddys adoptive father, Bob Newhart, decides that it would be best for Buddy if he found his real father. So, with Santas advice and the encouragement of the elves, Buddy starts off on his quest to New York City. While trying to find his father, Buddy takes on the mission to bring Christmas cheer back to New York, following his motto: The best way to bring Christmas Cheer is to sing it loud so that all can hear.
Will Ferrel does a phenomenal job portraying Buddy as an innocently naïve and always happy man. The best part of the movie had to be when Buddy was walking down the streets of New York and he saw a sign in a café window saying, Worlds best cup of coffee.
He goes in shouting happily and congratulation the café for figuring out how to make the worlds best cup of coffee.
So if you like your Christmas movies cheesy and adorable, Elf is for you. Elf is rated PG.
