Will Be Good
by Elissa Waldmuller, Lifestyles co-Editor

Sick of those Christmas movies you’ve seen a million times? Still longing for something to get you into the Christmas feel? Then Elf is the movie for you. Elf, starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, and Ed Asner, is about a human adopted by Christmas Elves and then sent into the real world to find his father.

Will Ferrell plays Buddy, the 6 foot, 30 year old man, who realizes that he’s not really one of the four foot elves. Buddy just thought of himself as a “special” elf. When Buddy was a baby at the orphanage, he crawled into Santa’s gift bag one Christmas eve and that’s how he came to live at the North Pole. While at the North Pole, he was raised as an elf, although he grew three times faster than a normal elf. Due to his size, chaos at Santa’s workshop ensues. Buddy’s adoptive father, Bob Newhart, decides that it would be best for Buddy if he found his real father. So, with Santa’s advice and the encouragement of the elves, Buddy starts off on his quest to New York City. While trying to find his father, Buddy takes on the mission to bring Christmas cheer back to New York, following his motto: “The best way to bring Christmas Cheer is to sing it loud so that all can hear.”

Will Ferrel does a phenomenal job portraying Buddy as an innocently naïve and always happy man. The best part of the movie had to be when Buddy was walking down the streets of New York and he saw a sign in a café window saying, “World’s best cup of coffee.”

He goes in shouting happily and congratulation the café for figuring out how to make the world’s best cup of coffee.
So if you like your Christmas movies cheesy and adorable, Elf is for you. Elf is rated PG.
