With the end of the fall sports seasons came the annual awards banquet. The
festivities took place in the High School Gym on Wednesday, November 10th. The
night began with Mr. Mueller welcoming everyone and congratulating the fall
teams. Mr. Rockwell followed with numerous thank yous to all of the influential
parents, coaches, and athletes. Before each coach spoke for his/her respective
team, Mr. Rockwell took the time to honor an outstanding member of the West
Geauga community: girls soccer coach Mo Brown, who finished his 12-year career
with the 2004 season.
This year West Geauga brought home CVC titles in boys soccer, which finished
15-5 overall, golf, which ended 7-3, and the boys and girls cross-country teams,
which qualified for regionals together for the first time in five years. The
football and volleyball teams finished with .500 records, with football going
5-5 and volleyball going 10-10.
The tennis team honored senior Marisa Rendina with an award in her name, which
will be given out every year to a tennis athlete showing her hard work and dedication.
She has been very successful throughout her high school years; she was the first
girl in the history of women’s tennis to play in a sectional final.
Marisa wasn’t the only athlete to be recognized, West Geauga had 45 all
CVC picks and one MVP, Charlie McDonald for football.
Overall the night was a success and showcased all of the talented athletes at
West Geauga.
