Halloween 2k4
by Danny Amato, Staff Writer

Without the scary movies, costumes, trick-or-treating, and scary monsters, Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without these items, but all these aren't complete without the candy.
The candy is one of the most important things during the Halloween holiday, but there are so many selections to choose from. Like Snickers and Butterfingers.
The ancient method of hoarding is dressing up in costumes and saying that age old phrase, "Trick-or-treat". The meaning of trick-or-treat comes from children in the 1800's going house to house and asking for treats. If they didn't get them, they'd play mean tricks on people.
Witches are often associated with Halloween. What is a witch? Witch comes from the Anglo-Saxon wicce, which in turn derives from an Indo-European root word meaning to bend, change or do magic/religion. It is possibly also related to the old Norse word vitki (meaning wizard).
