Girls Varsity Softball Hits Disney
by Hannah Petko, Staff Writer

Softball, swimming and Disneyworld… a great way to spend Spring Break! This year’s varsity team attended the tournaments at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. There were teams from several other states, many of which came from New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. There were not many Ohio teams competing, but the NDCL team was spotted there.
The team’s schedule began with 2 games played early in the morning. Afterwards, it was back the hotel for a swim. Next, the team hit the Disneyworld theme parks. The tournament lasted 4 days with W.G.’s record at 4-3.
The softball fields at Disney’s Wide World of Sports were the finest fields the team ever played on. The girls worked on getting their bats on the ball and not leaving as many runners on base. Going to Florida is a wonderful privilege for the varsity players. The level of play is high and quite competitive. “Since we’ve come back from Florida, our team has definitely stepped up our level of play. We have been playing more like a team,” said senior Jackie Kodrich.
Freshmen and JV players have an event to look forward to!
