The West Geauga Wolverines started off the season on a great note, defeating the Euclid Panthers 13-9. The Wolverines (1-0), gave the fans a glimpse of a great season to come. Anthony Sambula was the starting pitcher for the Wolverines and lasted 3 innings on the mound. In the fourth inning with the Wolverines down 6-5, relief pitcher Chris Hall replaced Anthony Sambula on the mound. Chris pitched 3 innings giving up 3 runs. Highlights of the game included a 6th inning grand slam by DH Robbie Larichia, that seemed to break the Panthers back. The game was cut short due to the darkness midway through the 7th. The Wolverines showed great promise by impressing the fans with hot bats, smart base running, and good fielding. Come watch the Wolverines on Wednesday take on Gilmour at 4:30 at Gilmour.
