On Monday, December 17th, Senator Tim Grendell and Judge Bill O'Neill came and spoke with Mr. Connell's 1st period English class. The class has been reading and discussing George Orwell's 1984 and has begun to discuss the issuses that surround the main chracters' civil liberties. The guest speakers came in to discuss with the class the civil liberties of young adults in our society, as well as our country. They discussed topics such as the constitution, the Bill of Rights, the freedoms of the people, and even freedom of speech as it refers to the internet. The discussion was taped so that it could be placed in the online exhibit that Mr. Connell's classes are producing. The exhibits will be open for viewing within a few weeks so that the discussion can be shared with everyone.
