Respect the Game, Love the Game

With a theme this year of Dedication, the 2008 girls basketball team is hopelessly devoted to the program and each other. Senior co-captains Caitlin Insana and Caitlin Wajahn plan to lead the team through a series of big wins. The girls welcome freshmen Brynne Walsh, Lauren Sambula, Amy Reinhard, and Kori Chapic to the varsity team. The varsity team also includes juniors Stephanie Javorek, Elle Javorek, and Katy Heines, and sophomores Jenny Link, Allison Tyree, and Aly Platek. Tough games for this season include Kenston, Mayfield, and Chagrin Falls, but the girls are confident in their abilities to play as a team and reach victory together.
The team has been training for months, conditioning and weight lifting, along
with two hours practices each day. The girls basketball team is known for
maintaining a sisterly bond throughout their long and grueling season. The
varsity girls are coached by Ms. Cheryl Rye and assisted by Ms. Julie Kless.
The team is also sure to gain a new insight from former player-turned-coach
and ‘06 graduate, Amanda Flowers.
“We are a family and always have each others’ backs. We play with great intensity and enthusiasm,” says Coach Rye, regarding the closeness of the team. The team is sure to have an exciting season and hopes to make it a winning one as well. Good luck Lady Wolverines and don’t forget to Respect the Game, Love the Game.
