Are you ready for a track attack? Spring is quickly approaching and the West
Geauga runners are anxious to hit the track. This year’s team has unlimited
potential. The boys and girls teams are filled with returning letter winners
and experienced runners. The girls team is looking for another C.V.C title.
The boy’s team is very optimistic as well, even though the last time they
won the conference was 1999.
The boys and girls teams have a very good chance of winning the conference and also sending runners to regionals. “I am looking forward to making some noise in the C.V.C and getting as many people to state meet as possible,” said Mr. John Boylan. Coach Boylan is the boys coach and Mr. Mike Taursi coaches the girls team. The boys 4x100 team is also looking to break the school record set in 1999.
The girls team is also excited for the season to start. The team will have seven senior girls this year. The girls have a great shot to win the C.V.C meet. They took second last year by only four points. Coach Taursi’s biggest goal is to encourage all athletes to try as many events as they want. “Give track a shot! There are so many opportunities to explore all the events. We have had a very successful state caliber team in the past few years,” said Coach Taursi.
Let’s get excited about this spring and everyone is encouraged to come out for the team. Go Wolverines!
