The junior varsity boys basketball team is churning on all cylinders this
season. The team has only compiled a 3-6 record so far, but is showing vast
signs of improvement. They are lead by the outstanding starting five of Sam
Pettegrew, Dylan Zurcher, Ryan Fowler, Spencer Kernshaw, and Matt Molle.
On Saturday, January 5th, 2008 the team played the most exciting game in the history of the world. Down by one point in overtime, the team needed a big play. With 5.36 seconds to go, Dylan Zurcher made the biggest shot of his career. He hit a 3 pointer and was fouled on the play, making the free throw to seal the win for the good guys by a final of West 63 – Perry 60. Sam Pettegrew said, “It was a great win for the team; we have been working hard all year and it is starting to pay off.”
Coach Cardiero said, “The kids are working very hard and are playing together as a team.” The team has eleven games left, including six key CVC games. They welcome you to come out to the games and cheer on the future of West Geauga hoops.
