Mr. Rogge and his students from the Honors Government Class visited the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. The students endured a three hour busride with a bathroom stop or two along the way. Everyone was eager to get off the bus, paid for by House of Representative Matthew Dolan, once it reached Columbus. The students were given a tour of the building along with an overview of the building's history. They learned all about the architecture of the building, and the process of how the Ohio Statehouse works. The students were then given an hour for lunch, during which everyone was able to eat at various restaurants around the building. During lunch, the students were able to see the Senate in session. Mr. Rogge's class was surprised to be acknowledged by none other than Senator Grendell himself. Students were able to see amendments to a bill take place as well as the proceedings. After a long day, the class headed home with a spirited busride back. The trip was an overall success. It was very educational and informative for everyone. This trip could not have been possible without Carole Ciaella. She worked things out so the trip would be free of charge.
