The boys soccer team is ending the regular season and starting the post season. Mario Gastaldo, Jordan Onderdonk, Lucas Koen, Jared Koen, Carter Poe, Chase Poole, Vince Gehlfuss, Alexander Molkentin and Kyle McKinney will be battling for a better playoff spot and to go far in the post season. They finished the year 9-5-1 and got a 5th seed in the playoffs. They play Benedictine on October 18th at home. They play at Padua if they win their first game.
“We are going to have to commit more effort into attacking in the early rounds.” Coach Sustin said.
The team clinched the CVC championship with a 2-0 win versus Aurora as Carter Poe and Jordan Onderdonk scored the goals. Kyle McKinney was also named a News Herald player of the week for his winning efforts.
“Feels pretty awesome. I think the next step is going to states,” Kyle McKinney said. “Were 6-0 in the last 6 games, so if we keep winning, we won’t lose.” Kyle McKinney and Mario Gastaldo are neck and neck for top offensive honors with Alex Molkentin close behind.
The team has had a very successful season. They should be proud of their efforts and should be a force to be afraid of in the postseason.
