Running Wild

Awake and on the course before the sun rises, the West Geauga girls cross country team knows exactly where the finish line is and how to reach it. They began this season with a team-high of 17 runners. Senior runners for this year include the returning letter winner, Deanna Cribari, who is currently out due to a potential stress fracture, and Grace Komar, who is new to the team. Other returning letter winners include Megan Shaffer, Casey Poe, Allison Ecker, Abby Rasmussen, Lindsey Benedict, and Olivia Robertson.
This season the girls will be participating in 10 races, the most anticipated being the varsity trip to the Worthington Invitational in Columbus. Although they have a team-high roster, the team has lost two runners to injury, Deanna Cribari and Allison Ecker. While this does put a damper on things, Coach Mr. Mike Taurasi says that he is still excited about helping the young runners improve and, hopefully, advance to regionals.
Unfortunately, West Geauga will not be hosting any races this year, but there is the potential that next year’s races will be held at the previous Orchard Hills Golf Course. The girl’s last regular race was the Worthington Invitational in Columbus on October 6th where they placed BLANK in their division. They most recently raced for the CVC title on October 13th and placed something something. The girls next race is the district meet on October 20th.
