The West Geauga Wolverine boys cross country team ran at the C.V.C meet
last weekend on October 13th. The meet was held at the Perry YMCA and the
team placed 4th of eight teams. The team was lead by seniors Colin Ecker,
who placed 10th and earned himself second team all-CVC, and Tyler Rex, who
placed 11th and also earned a second team CVC award. Spencer Kershaw and Geoff
Newman also received CVC honorable mentions for their performances.
The team is getting closer to districts and coach Mr. John Boylan said, “I would like to see the team finish in the top half.”
There are going to be a total of seventeen teams competing. The competition will be held at a brand new course at Lakeland Community College. The top five teams will advance to regionals, also.
As the year dwindles to an end, the team will be losing its top two runners, Colin Ecker and Tyler Rex. There is a plethora of runners returning like Spencer Kershaw, Geoff Newman, Mike Tadaj, Peter Grunawalt, and Nick Baumgarten. The team is also looking forward to the incoming freshman. Coach Boylan said, “This upcoming freshman class has a lot of potential.”
