Injured Team Staying Strong
by Abigail Sims, Staff Writer

Despite injuries and player loss, the volleyball teams have concluded their seasons with great efforts. The varsity sadly lost two extremely strong players, Michelle Bonfich and Caitlin Insana, due to a broken wrist and an injured knee. Although both of them are unable to play, the rest of the team came together to remain a strong and effective team. Sophomores Leah Fry and Christina Gademer have done an incredible job of stepping up to fill the open positions. With a final record of 11-9, it is obvious that without two of their players, these ladies have maintained their exceptional skills. As the volleyball season closes, the ladies participated in sectionals on October 18, where they faced Jefferson and lost. Coach Booth said, “I was extremely pleased with the girls this year. It was the first year that every girl improved.”
The J.V. team also had to make a few changes as a result of injuries. Middle hitter, Grace Komar, took a rough fall during practice, dislocated her shoulder, and was sadly out for the rest of the season. The team also lost two players who had to move up to varsity. Even though the girls had to switch positions last minute and make adjustments because of these losses, the J.V. team finished with a solid record of 9-8.
The freshmen team was also busy towards the end of their season and by the end had learned to play as a team and improved immensely. They proved to be very strong and we look forward to watching them play these next three years.
