On May 10th the first day of the Chagrin Valley Conference Track and Field Championship kicked off strong for the girls team with wins in the 4x800 (Haley Calkins, Kori Chapic, Maria May, and Kelly Williams) and Pole Vault (Denise Volcensek). These strong performances helped with a first place lead after day one. Overall the girls finished in second place due to an untimely disqualification in the 4x400. Key performances for the girls include Kelly Williams (400 and 800), Chantel Richardson (200m Dash, 100m Hurdles, 4x200 and Long Jump) and Kori Chapic (300 Hurdles and Long Jump) and these are just a few names on a team that every athlete contributed to their 2nd place finish. On the guys side, their performance was a disappointing 6th place but in the process they beat out rival Chagrin Falls by 25 points. Key performances for the guys include Jay Sargent (Discus), Gabe Nock (Pole Vault), Scottie Willis (Pole Vault), and Mark Barber (200m Dash, 400m Dash, 4x200, and 4x400). Congratulations to all Wolverine track athletes on a great season and good luck to Chantel Richardson and Kelly Williams at States!
