Senior Night 2015
The West Geauga Lady Wolverines Varsity Basketball Team, took on the Independence Blue Devils on Monday February 9, 2015. It was senior night for three of our Varsity Seniors: Joelle Baliker, Marissa Dalessandro, and Christina Rakich. The young women were escorted to half court before the start of the game by their parents. Upon arriving at half court, the seniors were greeted by their "little sisters" who were reading some of their most cherished memories, over the past few seasons. Joelle Baliker, along with Marissa Dalessandro have lettered in Varsity Basketball for two years in a row, and captain Christina Rakich was honored with lettering all four years of her high school career. Best of luck to these three ladies, who have been an essential part to the West Geauga Basketball Program. The game got off to a great start for the Wolverines, but that would not last for long. The Wolverine starters came out energized, pumped and ready to go. There was a tremendous amount of hustle, but not so much of a tremendous shooting percentage from the paint. The Wolverines communicated well on the floor, and put up some great shots, but the ball seemed to do nothing but dance around the rim. They could not catch up to Independence senior, Halle Dorko who had multiple three point shots in the first quarter alone. With Dorko's shots being nailed one after the othe, the Wolverines were unable to catch up. West Geauga's shots were no match to Independences' unbelievable shooting range. The Lady Wolverines were unable to keep up pace and fell to the Blue Devils, 62-30. Great effort by all the girls, and best of luck to our three seniors.
