The West Geauga Wolverines boys soccer team traveled to Mentor to face their first round opponent Lake Catholic. The teams had played earlier in the year and Lake won 2-1, so West G wanted to get revenge and knock them out of the playoffs. In the first half both teams got heir opportunities to score, but neither could. Jake Clark had a shot just outside of the box which skimmed the crossbar. As the whistle for the first half blew the score was 0-0. In the second half Lake Catholic was the first team to score. After a handball in the box by West G, the Cougars capitalized and converted on the penalty kick. The score was 1-0 in favor of Lake. With 22 minutes left to play the Wolverines got the goal back from a Albert Medanic shot. 1-1 with 22 minutes to play. With 12 minutes left the Cougars got a corner kick to bend into the goal, right out of the reach of the goalie. The Wolverines fought hard to tie the game but they could not. Lake defeated West Geauga with a final score of 2-1.
