The West Geauga Kiwanis Club is now underway in preparing for the 2019 STEM Fair on January 26th. STEM Fair is an acronym for science/technology/engineering & math. Students from West Geauga High School, Middle School, Home Schooled in the WG School District, Key Club Members, and invited students, who will be conducting individual research projects of their own choice as well as problem solving competitions.

There is a time in most everyone’s life when she or he would like nothing more than to be on TV. If you’ve ever imagined being interviewed and fantasized about giving eloquent, perfect answers, or thought about putting together your own critically-acclaimed movie or TV show, you can hardly disagree. For many West G students, a career residing on screens and pushing “play” buttons is a dream they’d more than love to chase – and West G TV is the bustling HQ for such people. Delivering the news and, occasionally, clever skits, the club is a beacon for film-junkies, to-be-newscasters and tech-lovers, alike.

The “Sweet 16” is often associated with BIG events. A “milestone” birthday and a round in an athletic tournament can both lay claim to this phrase. For West Geauga girls cross country head coach, Mr. Mike Taurasi, however, it represents his tenure in years of being in charge of the team. Highlighted by two team championships at invitationals and freshman, Julia Martinez’s, qualification to the regional meet, the 2018 season had some “sweet” moments !

The weekend of October 27 at Osborne Park in Willoughby, physics teacher Mr. Alan Duncan, along with chemistry teachers, Mrs. Kristin Gregory and Mr. Mike Sustin, and Latin teacher, Mr. Aaron Graora, led a group of West G. students in the Willoughby South Pumpkin Chuckin’ Contest.

One of West Geauga’s most successful programs this fall was the girls tennis team. They finished with an overall 12-2 record, 3-2 in the CVC, good for second place in the conference.
