West Geauga’s spring semester brought a bright new face to watch over and safeguard the student body, Sergeant Sean Day ! Sergeant Day is our new school resource officer here at West G. Officer Day joins West Geauga as an 18-year veteran of the Chester Township Police Department, but he has been in law enforcement, overall, since 1995. An “eastside” resident and husband of 25 years, Officer Day is a graduate of Harvey High School in Painesville who enjoys hunting and fishing in his free time.
A graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College, also, Officer Day has worked with the district schools on many occasions over the years, prior to joining its ranks as a direct member of the staff. A previous career in truck driving wasn’t fulfilling for him. He now says that his current employment is, “…the best job out there, a very rewarding occupation.”
Sgt. Day plans to “be visible” in the future as he learns what the students and staff need. A short – term goal is to help the district assess and improve security measures and strengthen efforts to promote good citizenship and wise choices by students. Ultimately, he said the bigger picture is to, “Keep students and staff protected from anything that [might] come through the doors.”
West G has for nothing but high hopes for our new officer, and we wish him a warm welcome to our school ! Sgt. Day closed by saying, “Everyone here has been very helpful, as I step into this SRO function.” See more at: https://wgwhirlwind.org/1523/people-in-the-news/a-new-blue-line-at-the-high-school/
