PSAT/NMSQT

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test

PSAT/NMSQT

October 16, 2019

On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, West Geauga High School will issue the PSAT to all 10th graders and the PSAT/NMSQT to interested 9th and 11th graders. There will not be a late start Wednesday for those taking the test this week.

The PSAT10 is a valuable tool that will give students, teachers and administrators important information regarding student learning.  Students will use this information to make informed decisions about what they need to improve upon during their remaining years as a high school student.  The counselors at West Geauga High School will use student score reports to have important conversations regarding courses and college opportunities.

In addition to the benefits above, studies show that taking a test multiple times increases your chances for growth.  We will offer this year, and continue to offer, the PSAT/NMSQT to interested junior students. Scoring well on this test could provide our students with scholarship opportunities through the prestigious National Merit Foundation.  West Geauga High School encourages all interested juniors to sit for the test on October 10th.

Students that have previously taken a PSAT can access their score information as well as prepare for upcoming PSAT, NMSQT or SAT exams by clicking here.

Taking both of these tests communicates to colleges that you are taking the right steps in order to gain successful entry into postsecondary education opportunities.
