TREASURER/CFO OF WEST GEAUGA SCHOOLS
CHESTERLAND – The West Geauga Board of Education seeks applicants to fill the unexpired term of board member Tom Allen, who resigned on August 30, 2017.
The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2019. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election in November, 2019.
Mr. Allen was elected to the Board of Education on November 3, 2015 and resigned effective August 30, 2017. He is resigning due to increasing business commitments.
Dr. Rich Markwardt, Superintendent, notes “Mr. Allen was an intelligent, stabilizing presence on the West Geauga Board. His business acumen, insight, and sense of humor will be missed. I am grateful for his service to our community.”
Those interested in serving on the West Geauga Board of Education should submit a notice of their interest, in writing, to Karen Penler, Treasurer/CFO of West Geauga Local Schools.
According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents and registered voters.
Mr. Thoreson, Board President, said the board will review all applications, conduct interviews and decide on the replacement at the next scheduled board meeting.
The West Geauga School District serves approximately 2,000 students in four buildings in Chesterland and Russell Townships.
