West Geauga High School Principal, Mr. Jay Bishop, has announced that senior Chloe Lemieux has been named a Commended Student by the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic performance.
Chloe is one of those students who is NOT just all about the books, though. Over her 4 years at West Geauga, she has been an active participant in many activities. She has been involved in band and is a member of the Interact service club. After completing her studies at West Geauga this June, she would like to attend Northwestern, as her first college choice.
“The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Chloe said, “I am honored to be recognized as a commended student of the National Merit Scholar Program. I feel this is a great reflection of the pride I take my education, the hard work I put in during and after school, and the emphasis West Geauga puts on striving to do your best. I am grateful for all the great classes and teachers that’ve prepared me for that test and I’m glad I could be one in a long line of students that make our school proud on the PSAT.”
