ODE Honors Three West Geauga Schools

Ohio’s State Board of Education has issued the 2016 Momentum Award to three West Geauga Schools. Westwood Elementary School, Robert C. Lindsey Elementary School, and West Geauga Middle School were all informed of the honor in letters received from Thomas Gunlock, President of the State Board of Education.

College and Career Readiness Test Selection College and Career Readiness Test Selection

Dear Parents of West G Juniors:

All public school districts in Ohio are now required to offer either the SAT or the ACT as one potential path to high school graduation. The college entrance test is to be given in the spring of the students’ junior year. Two other paths to graduation also exist. One is successful passage of end-of-course exams – the most typical route for high school students. The third is a vocational certificate for students entering a specific work-related field like welding or cosmetology.

As a school district, West Geauga has chosen to utilize the ACT to fulfill the college entrance exam graduation pathway in 2016. This was not an easy decision. Various factors weigh in favor of both ACT and SAT, but districts must choose only one. Local school districts vary in their choices.


 
West Geauga High School to Host "Hidden In Plain Sight"
Looks can be deceiving.

That’s the message behind a unique traveling exhibit created by the Bath and Copley Township Police Departments. The display is called “Hidden in Plain Sight.” The departments constructed what appears to be at first glance the bedroom of the average teenager.
