Envirothon students

Students from West Geauga demonstrated exceptional environmental knowledge and field skills at the Area 2 Envirothon competition, with two of our teams earning top placements. One team finished in first place, while another earned second place among 48 teams representing 17 Northeast Ohio counties. Their strong performance secured both teams a spot at the upcoming Ohio State Envirothon competition.

The Envirothon is a premier academic and outdoor environmental competition that challenges high school students to apply their understanding of the natural world through hands-on activities and field testing. Students are evaluated in five core categories: aquatic ecology, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current environmental issues.

Unlike traditional classroom competitions, the Envirothon requires students to demonstrate practical skills such as assessing water quality, identifying tree and wildlife species, analyzing soil profiles, and applying critical thinking to real-world environmental challenges.

Congratulations to our Envirothon students, and best of luck at the state competition!
