Nonfiction text gives us information or makes some argument about the world we inhabit.  It directly invades our world which means we must read with a questioning stance. 

When we read nonfiction we MUST…

• Acquire information on our own.

• Read about ideas with a questioning focus.

• Sort through ideas independently and learn to make  
   judgments.  “Should I accept the information, question it 
   or even reject it.”

• Consider the author’s biases as well as our own.
