Congratulations to Dr. Richard Markwardt, Superintendent of West Geauga Local Schools, who received the 2023 Exemplary Leadership Award at the recent Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA) Fall Conference in Columbus. This annual award is presented to one active member in the BASA region for demonstrating outstanding educational leadership in making significant contributions to educational administration. During Dr. Markwardt's tenure as the Superintendent of West Geauga Local Schools, the district has shown continued improvement in academic achievement, overseen the successful territory transfer of Newbury Schools, and grade leveled two Elementary school buildings. This year the district ranks 10th in the state among all Ohio school districts in the Performance Index ranking on the state report card and Robert C. Lindsey Elementary was named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.
